Milwaukee, WI, (October 1, 2009) - The Wisconsin Ovarian Cancer Alliance (WOCA) and ComedySportz will host the 9th Annual Comedy for a Cause on Wednesday, October 14, at ComedySportz at 420 South 1st Street in Milwaukee. The family friendly event raises awareness of ovarian cancer and the mission of the Wisconsin Ovarian Cancer Alliance, as well as raises funds for ovarian cancer research, education and advocacy throughout Wisconsin.
"Before Joan Sagan, my sister and our founder, passed away of ovarian cancer, she approached Dick Chudnow at ComedySportz for the first fundraiser. We started out sharing the space with his other clients. He is now generous enough to give WOCA all of the space for the entire night. He also asks comedians to donate their time for the evening," explains Sandi Wagner. "I think I can speak for the entire organization when I say that ComedySportz is dear to us because it brings back incredible memories of Joan. Our entire mission is tied to her, but this event is special because it was hers."
The event begins at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 and includes dinner by Di Carlo Trattoria & Pizzeria, family entertainment by ComedySportz, as well as raffles, live and silent auctions. Advance tickets are available for purchase via the Wisconsin Ovarian Cancer Alliance website (www.wisconsinovariancancer.com) at $25.00 per ticket for adults or three adult tickets for $65.00. Kids 12 and under are free. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $30.00 per adult or three tickets for $65.00. Seating for the event is limited, so guests as are urged to book by October 7, 2009.
